Wearing only a hat, sunglasses and his speedos, john marsh is taking a short-cut through the swamp. the river meanders back and forth, so following the river to his destination would take him miles out of his way. looking at this gps, john decides he can follow some narrow, silt filled, rivulets of water through the swamp to cut some time off his trip. what he doesn't realize, until he is well on his way, is that he can't paddle through. instead, he'll have to guide his boat through the muddy channels while wading through chest deep mud. he does eventually make it through, but his short-cut was both exhausting and torturous, and he didn't save any time.
